Medical physiology is concerned with how the organism works, and the subject area limits both anatomy and biochemistry. The nervous system, digestion, stress and our senses are among the subjects of physiology.

The teaching in physiology is coordinated with anatomy and biochemistry, so that related subjects – e.g. structure of an organ (anatomy), chemical composition and processes (biochemistry) and function and regulation mechanisms (physiology) – reviewed in parallel within the same period.
