Epilepsi
Epilepsi er sjældent en sygdom. Det er oftest et symptom på en bagvedliggende hjernesygdom. Definitionen af epilepsi er gentagne anfald, altså 2 og derover, der er udløst fra
hjernecellerne.
Hos ca 60% af personer med epilepsi kender vi årsagerne. Denne gruppe har symptomatisk epilepsi. Årsagerne kan være medfødte misdannelser i hjernen, hvor nerveceller er placeret på
et forkert sted under udviklingen (dysplasi, heterotopi), iltmangel i hjernen under fødslen med ardannelse til følge, hovedtraumer med kraniebrud og efterfølgende ardannelser,
hjernebetændelse med ar, hjernesvulster, der trykker på nervecellerne og giver anledning til epilepsi, alkoholmisbrug, blodpropper eller blødning i hjernen med ardannelse til
følge. Man kan ofte på anfaldenes udseende og den måde, de breder sig på, få en mistanke om, at anfaldene hører til den symptomatiske epilepsi.

Der har på neurologisk afdeling F været et længe ønske om ud-arbejdelse af instruksvejledning for forskellige procedurer, syg-domme og behandlinger på neurologisk afdeling.
Denne mindre lommebog repræsenterer den anden redigerede udgave af en sådan instruks.
Indholdet baserer sig på materiale modtaget og udarbejdet af an-dre kolleger i og udenfor afdelingen og det takkes der for.
Det er hensigten at opdatere instruksen 1 gang årligt og forslag til ændringer modtages gerne.

Introduktion til neurologi
I de følgende artikler om neurologi på denne hjemmeside vil anatomi og fysiologi indgå i redegørelsen for de neurologiske sygdomme. Der kan også indgå stofområder fra neurokemien,
neuropsykologien, neuropsykiatrien og neurokirurgien samt hjernescanning. Således er neurologi et meget bredt men også svært fag at tilegne sig hvad enten man er under uddannelse i
fag hvor neurologi indgår eller man er i gang med en speciallægeuddannelse i neurologi. I det følgende er niveauet lagt således at artiklerne primært tager sigte på at introducere
faget neurologi til og med lægeuddannelsen i universitetsregi, uden at andre specielt interesserede faggrupper bliver hægtet af undervejs. Forfatterens niveau svarer til aflæggelsen
af eksamen i faget intern medicin, dvs incl. neurologi på det medicinske studium, men tager dog sigte på at begrænse sig til en funktion som videnskabsjournalist, dvs en popularisering
af det lægevidenskabelige fag neurologi, på især basalt niveau. På denne vis skulle de følgende artikler lette indlæringen af neurologiske problemstillinger fra det elementære til det
lidt mere indviklede niveau.
